Draining Permit - Yes, you do need a permit to drain your pool. They are free and can be obtained on-line at the official tempe website, or by calling the pool drainage hotline # 480-350-8521. The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of pick up. The permit can also be faxed to you.
Where The Water Goes - You have several options; if you know where the sewer clean out is "on your property", you can drain the pool into it. If you do not know where the clean out(s) are located, you can usually drain your pool into the gutter on the street. If you drain your pool into the City's storm water system (gutter) you must first de-chlorinate your pool. This can be done by simply not adding chlorine to your pool for 48 hours prior to draining.
